Habitat for Humanity

Habitat for Humanity (www.habitat.org)
A nonprofit Christian housing ministry that seeks to eliminate poverty housing and homelessness from the world and to make decent shelter a matter of conscience. Founded in 1976, Habitat has built over 350,000 houses around the world, providing more than 1.75 million people in 3,000 communities with safe, decent, affordable shelter. T!LC has been really active in building and funding for houses for the local Habitat affiliate. T!LC church members have volunteered to build and cook meals at most of the 26 homes built by Sarpy County Habitat (www.hfhsarpy.org). In addition, a portion of T!LC’s Lenten Service offerings supports Habitat – in the last two years alone almost $40,000. During Serve Day, we assist in building Habitat homes in the local area, doing everything from framing, hanging drywall, painting, and other general construction. T!LC’s Serve Day point person for Habitat for Humanity is John Taylor (402-291-5035, email taylordapack@cox.net).
