From Serve Day to Mission Quests!!
Contact Karen Harned for more information
Serve Days have certainly helped us discover where we can best apply our God-given talents to lead missional lives and make mission a daily part of our lives. But Serve Day also has its limitations: there are only two Serve Days a year; those dates don’t fit everyone’s schedule; you can only try one service opportunity on Serve Day; and Serve Day didn’t always coincide with a mission partner’s scheduled event.
To address these challenges and better meet our goals, we are transforming from Serve Day to Mission Quests – multiple separate serve opportunities throughout the year. Mission quests will allow us to better serve our mission partners at times that meet their needs, and allow you to experience more and different serve opportunities to find the best places for your talents in God’s Kingdom!
How will you find out about Mission Quests? Just like Serve Day, you will see announcements in the weekly Messenger and monthly newsletter, on the T!LC website, and also Mission Moment videos and announcements during services. And you will be able to register for quests by filling out a form similar to what we used for Serve Day.
Your job is to be on the lookout for Mission Quests that fit your skills and interests. Mission Quests might involve spending time with the elderly at a nursing home, sorting donated goods at Heartland Family Services, building a Habitat for Humanity house, wrapping Christmas presents for North Omaha kids, serving at Open Door Mission, or participating in a Kids Against Hunger event. So the quest is on, for you to discover where God wants you to put those talents He gave you to do the best for Him!
