Reflections
on the X Factor ![]() |
"I thank God for a dad who quit smoking and quit yelling. I am thankful to God for my mom, 'cause she is nice, and that God has provided our family with enough to eat. I thank God for a special family. Thanks God for a nice and fun teacher at school. I thank God that our family, and friends don't curse.

Just a few thoughts, too many to list below, came from carrying it or just sitting and looking at “the cross”: The sense of the peace that passes all understanding was with me when ever my eyes would see or hold the cross in my hand. The cross was a gentle reminder that God is in charge of this world and to prioritize the day to day functions into a truly “what would Jesus do” attitude in all things.
It had a way of transporting me back to the serene quietness of the service on Sunday and feeling God’s presence as he was with each Pastor and the Vicar in the service. Watching the joy in the faces of the congregation as they lifted up their voice in song was like being part of the angelic chorus here on earth sending up our praise and thanksgiving to him. My parents brought each of us up to practice the golden rule at all times. I do believe today it is called “random acts of kindness”. This week I took the time to see how it does matter when given and it gave me a renewed hope that these individuals would in someway pass along a new random act of kindness. In keeping with this thought, I’m sure the members of our congregation can reflect back on their parents and how it has made them who they are today and that they knowingly or unknowingly are passing God’s basic values instilled in them as children to their children and thus on down to future generations. What may seem like a small and insignificant teaching now can become a core value.
